Detailed Analysis
______________
Anuraga Karikkin Vellam was the most promising flick among the 'Eid' releases with its vivid casting, catchy posters, hilarious teaser and a neatly cut trailer that was well received by the movie buffs in social media.Produced by August Cinemas and directed by debutant Khalid Rehman,Anuraga Karikkin Velllam is a collage of realistic lovestories set in the backdrop of a middle class family with a bounty of interesting and well-etched characters that look utterly realistic and easily connectable for majority of the movie-going audience.
Khalid Rehman who has earlier assisted mollywood biggies like Anwar Rasheed and Amal Neerad has employed a realistic approach to narration and doesn't go overboard at any instance, keeping the proceedings as simple as it can be utilising a brilliantly crafted screenplay by Naveen Bhaskar that's devoid of usual cliches that one will associate with a feel-good romantic comedy. The newbee stamps that he is here to stay with his focused narrative style that reminded me of Ashiq Abu's Asif Ali starrer 'Salt and Pepper' released back in 2011.
The way the love stories have been presented is immensely cute and the inherent simplicity will help it connect with the normal viewers as there's something for everyone may it be someone who have loved and lost,is committed or is yet to taste the feel of romance. The subtle humor spread through the run-time is sweet and evokes laugh effortlessly.
A notable thing is the continuity and the pace that the movie gained as it progressed with the inclusion of realistic and easily connectable sequences that added to the feel good factor of the movie that's without doubt one to sit, relax and enjoy without any tensions. The idea that a small glimmer of light can bring out wonders in troubled relationships was intertwined well in the storyline.
Another winner here is casting that does wonders as the chemistry between every character is catchy and their natural acting adds to the homely feel of the movie. The big gamble to cast Biju Menon as Asif Ali's father proved successful and the combination between them was really lovable on screen.Biju Menon is like old vine that gets better with time and amazes with a top-notch performance.Asif Ali was at his best and successfully portrayed various phases like that of a self-centric lover,a lazy graduate and a typical middle-class son that we usually come across in dialy life.Rajisha Vijayan made her filmy debut memorable with a matured performance and stole the show with her versatality in handling different situations.Soubin Shaher,Sreenath Bhasi,Sudheer Karamana etc did their part well.
Songs by Prashant Pillai couldn't make much wonders before release, but looke dperfect in the filmy setting with the songs 'Poyi Maranju' and 'Manogatham' being my picks from the album. The original score by Prashant was refreshing.Frames by Jimihi Khalid were slick and fresh.Cuts by Noufal Abdulla were neat.
Overall,Anuraga Karikkin Vellam is a light-hearted family entertainer that offers a delightful relaxed watch with the family.
